Glamorgan v Kent Spitfires: RLODC Head-to-Head

27 Jul 2015 | Matches
The Kent Spitfires will be the visitors to the SSE SWALEC to meet Glamorgan in the Royal London One-Day Cup on Tuesday, July 28th with the contest starting at 2.00pm.
Glamorgan's first match in the 50 overs competition, against the Notts Outlaws at Welbeck CC on Sunday, was washed out, but there was plenty of encouragement for the visiting side at the ground north of Mansfield as the Welsh county's bowlers enjoyed the good pace and carry of the surface to reduce the home side to 83/3 from 23 overs.

The Welsh county now return to their headquarters to meet the Spitfires who they beat by one run a fortnight ago at Tunbridge Wells in the Twenty20 competition. The Kent side will also be looking to avenge their record in two matches last summer at Cardiff. In the first, the visitors lost their County Championship match by an innings and 11 runs before the two counties were involved in a thrilling tie in their Twenty20 contest as Michael Hogan delivered a superb final over with Doug Bollinger being run out off from the final ball to save Glamorgan from defeat.

Kent were victorious however in 2014 when the two sides met at Canterbury for their match in the Royal London One-Cup with Bollinger gaining some revenge for what had happened at Cardiff by claiming 5/35 as Kent won by six wickets.

As far as List A games between the two sides are concerned at the Cardiff ground, the two teams were scheduled to meet on July 21st 2009 but rain washed out the contest. The last completed game between the two teams in the Welsh capital took place on September 7th, 2007, on which occasion Martin Saggers claimed 4/25 and Robert Key struck an unbeaten 107 as Kent won by eight wickets.

Glamorgan last beat Kent in a List A one-day game in 2004 at Canterbury with Matthew Elliott scoring a century to lay the foundations for a Welsh victory. Their last win on home soil over Kent in a List A game came in May 2003 at Sophia Gardens when Robert Croft took 3.33 as well as scoring a fifty, whilst Michael Powell also weighed in with a half-century as Glamorgan won by seven wickets.
