The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the date for this year's Get Set Weekend, and it is on the 5th and 6th of April.
The Get Set Weekend is an ECB initiative to help clubs across the country get ready before the club cricket season starts in early May. Many clubs do not have a strong communications system, and fail to tap into the data of locals willing to help cricket clubs set up before the summer.
By registering on the link, the ECB connects you to cricket clubs near your area who need helping hands in getting the ground, changing rooms, bar or toilets ready before a long and testing summer of cricket.
Helping your local cricket club not only provided aid to the club, but also connects you with locals and adds a sense of community. Many volunteers end up forming a close bond with club members and participate in recreational cricket with them over the course of the cricket season.
Volunteering also helps the next generation of budding cricketers have the facilities they deserve, so they can have a successful season and go up the ladder in semi-professional and professional cricket.
