I just want to work hard and train hard - Douthwaite

After a breakout 2019 that saw him named Glamorgan’s Young Player of the Year at the end of season awards, Dan Douthwaite had plenty to reflect on ahead of his first winter as a professional cricketer.

After being dismissed three times on his debut at Bristol in the Royal London One-Day Cup against Gloucestershire, Douthwaite played a starring role on Sky Sports as he won Man of the Match for his efforts with bat and ball in the victory at Sussex. He also produced an incredible bowling display on red-ball debut at Derbyshire, as he finished the season with 298 runs and 17 wickets in the Specsavers County Championship.

“On a personal note, in my first season at the club, I was happy," said Douthwaite. "I started well, and a lot better than I thought I would being in a new environment with a new team.

“I haven’t been around the club for long but I knew people had been calling for improvement and to say we went into the final game with a chance of being promoted to Division 1, it kind of answered some of the prayers.”
