Sports BTEC students at Glamorgan were visited by a guest lecturer this week, as TV and Radio Broadcaster Jason Mohammad stopped by to give some tips and tricks on how to interview sports stars.
Mohammad is travelling around the UK hosting creative masterclasses for schools, colleges and universities, and was happy to provide some insight at the home of Welsh cricket.
“As a Glamorgan cricket fan, I was absolutely thrilled to be hosting the creative masterclass with the Cardiff and Vale College Academy students.
“We spent the afternoon talking about dreaming big, motivation, the importance of preparation, podcasts, composure in front of a TV camera and we even gave the young cricketers the chance to be on screen for the very first time."
Craig Meschede and Callum Taylor were on hand to be the stars of the show, as they were interviewed by Mohammed while he demonstrated the skills and techniques he’s honed in a 23-year career in the media.
Mohammad studied broadcast journalism at Cardiff University, and as a keen supporter of Welsh sport he understands the importance of young stars balancing both education and their passion for taking their sporting careers as far as they can.
“It was an important milestone for them as they embark on their studies and sporting life. I think we also unearthed some future podcast/TV/radio stars! Huge thanks to Glamorgan too for hosting us and I look forward to the new season cheering on the county and of course Welsh Fire in The Hundred.”
Glamorgan's head of community and development, Mark Frost, added, "It was really good for a high profile sports broadcaster to come to Sophia Gardens and share his wealth of experience which will have generated more self-confidence with the students.
“The presence of Glamorgan players in training added to the whole event in a memorable way.”
