Glamorgan County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Rhydderch-Roberts as the Club’s new Chair. He succeeds Gareth Williams, who stepped down after four years in the position following his appointment as a director of the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Crickhowell-born Mark Rhydderch-Roberts had a 28 year career in investment banking, during which time he held senior positions with a number of global financial institutions, including UBS Warbug, Schroders and Swiss Re. Mark currently is a non-executive director at The International Conference Centre, Wales (ICCW), is a Board Member of the Welsh Industrial Development Agency, and an Executive Director of Pontypridd RFC. He also served as a member of the Welsh Government Advisory Panel on the establishment of the Development Bank of Wales and was a Director of Excalibur Steel during its attempted acquisition of TATA Steel UK. He played First Class rugby throughout the 1980s and early 1990s for a number of leading Clubs, including Ebbw Vale, Newport, Pontypridd, and Bath RFC.

Mr Rhydderch-Roberts has been Treasurer of Glamorgan since October 2017 and played a key role in navigating the Club through the financial challenges of the COVID pandemic and is delighted by his appointment as Chair.

Mark was recommended for the position of Chair by the Nominations Committee following a recruitment process and his nomination has been endorsed by the Board of Glamorgan County Cricket Club.

“I am honoured to be appointed Chair of Glamorgan County Cricket Club and proud to follow in the footsteps of Gareth Williams,” said Mark Rhydderch-Roberts.

"Cricket as a game is on the cusp of dramatic growth and it is an exciting time for all of us to be a part of that. While mindful of the challenges, I am excited by the opportunities that exist for Glamorgan to develop both on and off the field, together with the ongoing development of our magnificent international stadium at Sophia Gardens.”

Chief Executive, Hugh Morris, said, “Mark has enjoyed a distinguished business career and has been an outstanding Treasurer for the Club, playing a key role in navigating us through the financial challenges of the COVID pandemic. He has a passion for cricket and wider sport in Wales and has the experience to build on the outstanding work of Gareth Williams.”
