Glamorgan Cricket has achieved record attendances from their opening two Vitality Blast matches, with over 13,000 supporters flocking to Sophia Gardens over the first two fixtures of the competition.

The Welsh county opened their campaign against local rivals Somerset in The Big Match with the fixture generating a record group stage crowd for Glamorgan on a Thursday night.

In the first Friday night Vitality Blast match of the season 6,972 fans watched Glamorgan face Middlesex in Cardiff – the 3rd highest attendance for the club in a Vitality Blast group stage match.

Head of Commercial, Huw Warren, said: “On the back of the success of the Cricket World Cup and a great start to the Specsavers County Championship, we have seen a 26% increase in Vitality Blast attendances from last year.

“This shows there is a passion for cricket in Wales and a hunger to see some of the world’s best cricketers in action week in and week out.

“To achieve a record Thursday night crowd and one of our highest ever attended matches ever is a fantastic achievement for the club and we will look to build on the strong start throughout the rest of the summer and into next year.”

Glamorgan’s next home Vitality Blast match is on Thursday against Gloucestershire in The Battle of The Bridge. Adult advance tickets are just £15 and available to buy HERE.
