Day one of the contest between Glamorgan and Kent saw 14 wickets fall in the third round of games using the Kookaburra ball. Both sides performed well in the field as they played out the first phase of a close-knit contest at Sophia Gardens.
With Sam Northeast away on paternity leave, Kiran Carlson took over the captaincy. On winning the toss, Glamorgan decided to send Kent out to bat.
It was a decision that could have proved costly as Daniel Bell-Drummond scored an unbeaten 42 for Kent, with the visitors 111-2 at lunch. However, some great bowling by Timm Van Der Gugten and James Harris brought the game into Glamorgan’s favour as the Kent innings closed on 155 at tea.
Glamorgan on paper had a low score to reach after the interval, though Wes Agar well utilised bowling conditions to take the wickets of Zain ul Hassan, Asa Tribe and Billy Root. To shore things up, Colin Ingram and Ben Kellaway’s partnership left the hosts on 125-4 at the close of play, with a chance to build momentum on day two.
When asked about the days play, James Harris said, “Any time you win the toss, you look to bowl a team out before the end of the day - and for a scorecard under 300 is something we exceeded in all measures today. To bowl as well as we did, particularly after lunch. We all came back and bowled much better than we did in the morning.”

Day two will commence at 11am from Sophia Gardens. Supporters who can't join us can catch the action live on our live stream.
