Andrew Salter’s contract extension is great news for the club, according to Director of cricket Mark Wallace.
Wallace spoke highly of Salter’s flexibility as a player, adding “Andrew’s a dynamic player and can play all three formats, and this year is now the time for him to use his experience and kick on to become that senior spinner, senior all-rounder, that we know he can be.”
With three spinners playing a number of games during the Specsavers County Championship last season, Wallace is happy with the levels of competition and Salter’s development.
“It’s tough being a spinner in this country. It’s all about consistency and getting overs under your belt, and that’s the challenge for Andrew now.”
“We’ve got Prem Sisodiya , Kieran Bull, Andrew Salter, so it’s an area where we have some strength bubbling up underneath. Andrew’s probably the lead of those at the moment in terms of experience, so to have him signed up is great.”
