Glamorgan won the toss
Lunch update
After the pulsating and almost hedonistic climax to the RBS Six Nations Rugby Championship on Saturday, there was a far less frenetic atmosphere this morning as Glamorgan - in the tranquil and quite rural setting of Taunton Vale CC - continued their pre-season preparations with this two-day friendly against Somerset. For the West Country side, this is their first outing of the season after a pre-season training visit to Spain, and with James Hildreth appearing for the MCC in the Champion County fixture in Abu Dhabi, the game gave other players, including former Glamorgan all-rounder Jim Allenby, a chance to have time in the middle ahead of the opening round of fixtures in the U.K.
Indeed, Allenby was soon in the action after Glamorgan won the toss and batted first as the Welsh county lost a wicket in the second over with Jeremy Lawlor, on his 1
st XI debut, edging Tim Groenewald to Allenby at first slip. The bowler claimed his second scalp two overs later as Will Bragg chipped a ball to Peter Trego at short mid-wicket.
James Kettleborough duly struck the first boundary of the day as he guided Lewis Gregory through backward point before Ben Wright glanced Groenewald to long-leg besides drilling Peter Trego through mid-off for four. But in the 15th over Wright edged Trego into Alex Barrow's gloves behind the wicket.
After a couple of deft glances, Chris Cooke welcomed the appearance of Adam Dibble into the attack by unleashing a fierce square-cut, but next over the bowler gained revenge as he firstly had Kettleborough dropped at second slip before trapping the opener leg before with the total on 47.
David Lloyd duly brought up the fifty by drilling Dibble along the ground to the ropes at long-off, before Cooke did the same in Jack Leach's second over of left-arm spin. Lloyd found the boundary again as he firstly steered Dibble through the gully before on-driving and square-cutting the same bowler from successive deliveries. But next over Glamorgan lost their fifth wicket with their total on 67, as Leach bowled Cooke

Glamorgan batted for 54 overs
Teatime update
Resuming after lunch on 75/5, David Lloyd cover-drove and on-drove Tim Groenewald for a pair of fours in the opening over after the interval, before dabbing the bowler through backward point for four, but by the time he struck the latter boundary, Wallace had departed leg before to Gregory .83/6 then became 91/7 as Lloyd edged Groenewald to second slip.
After Craig Meschede had clipped Groenewald for two to bring up the hundred, he twice square cut Adam Dibble before driving him through extra-cover. Andrew Salter quietly accumulated at the other end, but with the total on 128, he advanced down the wicket to Jack Leach and was stumped by Alex Barrow. Three balls later the wicket-keeper snaffled an edge from Meschede's bat before two runs later, the innings ended as Will Owen was caught at mid-wicket by Overton who ran in to catch the skied sweep.
Marcus Trescothick and Johann Myburgh then began Somerset's innings as Owen and Dewi Penrhyn Jones shared the new ball under the leaden grey skies. Myburgh struck the latter for successive fours to mid-wicket and backward point before Trescothick drilled Owen through mid-off for four. But two balls later the opener edged another drive with Mark Wallace completing the catch.
15/1 saw Lewis Gregory make his way to the middle, and he got off the mark with successive fours against Owen as together with Myburgh they negotiated without any further alarms the remaining overs before tea.

Close of play Report
Resuming after tea on 25/1, Dewi Penrhyn Jones made a double strike in his second over after the interval as firstly he had Johann Myburgh caught behind as he drove at the young paceman, before three balls later he clean bowled Jim Allenby for a duck. Lewis Gregory then survived a brace of sharp chances as he firstly miscued drives to mid-wicket and extra cover, before edging just short of Will Bragg at first slip. He then celebrated his good fortune by driving David Lloyd through extra cover to bring up the fifty.
Next ball, Gregory survived another chance behind the wicket as the light started to deteriorate and after another couple of overs, the umpires took the players off the field with Somerset on 69/3.
Play will now start at 10am on Tuesday morning
