Glamorgan face local rivals Somerset in Blast action tonight

Glamorgan travel to Taunton to face Somerset this evening as they look to make it back-to-back wins in the Vitality Blast

The Welsh county go on the road once again, and look to capitalise on another wonderful team performance after a comprehensive 6-wicket victory over the Essex Eagles last night in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

The Glamorgan seamers were in sparkling form in front of a raucous Cardiff crowd yesterday evening, with Michael Neser taking a T20 career-best 3/13 from his allotted overs, while the ageless Michael Hogan put in a player-of-the-match display with his three wickets, taking his total Blast tally to 12 this season already.

Glamorgan have now won two and lost two in the Blast, and currently sit 4th in the Vitality Blast South Group, two points behind the hosts who are currently unbeaten in the competition.

Head-to-head – Somerset vs Glamorgan

This is the second time that Glamorgan have played against Somerset at Taunton at a time of royal celebrations as back on 29 July 1981 when HRH Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer were being married at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the two counties were engaged in a Championship match at Somerset’s headquarters with Javed Miandad, the mercurial batsman from Pakistan, scoring an unbeaten 200.

The Welsh county have won four of their seventeen T20 games at Taunton but, as the list below shows, Glamorgan have not been victorious in this format of cricket on Somerset soil since 2017:

15 June 2016 at Taunton - Match Abandoned
13 Aug 2017 at Taunton - Glamorgan won by 1 run
12 Aug 2018 at Taunton - Somerset won by 29 runs
24 Aug 2019 at Taunton - Somerset won by 25 runs
1 Sept 2020 at Taunton - Somerset won by 8 wickets
19 June 2021 at Taunton - Match Abandoned
