While Glamorgan were in action against Leicestershire in their Specsavers County Championship Division Two match, five other games were taking place around the country.
Division One
Lancashire v Nottinghamshire – Lancashire's New Zealand bowler Neil Wagner took 6/66 on Championship debut for the Red Rose, to reduce Nottinghamshire to 242 allout after the visitors won the toss and elected to bat. Chris Read (52), Stuart Broad (43) and Jake Ball (33) provided some much-needed lower order runs as Notts finished the day strongly. Ball then took the wicket of Lancs' opener Karl Brown in the closing stages, as the home side finished on 25/1.
Yorkshire v Hampshire – England hopefuls Jonny Bairstow and Adam Lyth both scored hundreds to help Yorkshire recover from 41/3 to end the day on 270/5 before bad light curtailed play at Headingley. Earlier, Alex Lees, Gary Ballance and Andrew Gale all fell cheapy. Yorkshire will be looking to reach maximum batting points in scoring 400 as batsmen Bairstow and Adil Rashid resume this morning.
Middlesex v Warwickshire – Another potential England opener, Sam Robson, sent a message to the England selectors with an unbeaten knock of 175 to propel Middlesex to 317/4 versus Warwickshire at Lord's. Keith Barker and Chris Wright took two wickets apiece on a tough day for the bowlers.
Division Two
Sussex v Essex – Chris Nash scored an emotional hundred for Sussex, as the county paid tribute to Matthew Hobden, the bowler who passed away on New Year's Eve. Nash hit 119, while Ollie Robinson and Ed Joyce both smashed fifties in Sussex's total of 355/8 at the end of Day One.
Gloucestershire v Derbyshire – It was slow going for Derbyshire's batsmen at Bristol, but Chesney Hughes' knock of 92 put the visitors in charge at the end of the first day. Wayne Madsen and Neil Broom then shared an unbeaten stand of 66 and will resume in the morning, with Derbyshire 242/3.
The second day of Glamorgan's match with Leicestershire will resume today at 11am.
