Glamorgan make forced changes for Middlesex encounter

Head coach Matt Maynard has been forced to make three changes to the squad that faces Middlesex today.

Batsman Nick Selman has tested positive for coronavirus following the results of a PCR test. He has been withdrawn from the squad, along with Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser who were identified as close possible contacts.

Batsman Billy Root and Sam Pearce have been brought in to replace them.

Pearce (23) is a leg-spinning all-rounder and a product of the Glamorgan Academy. He is the current captain of Wales National County and a member of the Cardiff UCCE side that won the BUCS National Cricket Championship earlier this week.

Glamorgan squad to face Middlesex: Chris Cooke *+, Colin Ingram, David Lloyd, Kiran Carlson, Billy Root, Callum Taylor, Dan Douthwaite, James Weighell, Timm van der Gugten, Prem Sisodiya, Roman Walker, Tom Cullen, Sam Pearce.

View from the camp - David LLoyd

"We've got to play without fear and hope we click as a unit.

"Middlesex will want to get one back over us but we bowled extremely well at our place.

"At Radlett it could be a high-scoring game with a quick outfield. I've played a four-day game and a one-day game there, it's a nice little ground.

"You're putting pressure on yourself so it's a fine balance, but we've got nothing to lose now, we've got to enjoy ourselves and back our game."

Head-to-head: Middlesex v Glamorgan

This will be the first time that Glamorgan have played a T20 match at the pretty Hertfordshire ground.

Glamorgan beat Middlesex by 21 runs last week at Sophia Gardens and have also been victorious in their previous four matches on Middlesex soil, all of which have taken place previously at Old Deer Park in Richmond.
