13-man squad named for Bears and Steelbacks clashes

Head Coach Matt Maynard has named a 13-man squad to face Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston on Friday night and Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Sunday afternoon at Sophia Gardens.

David Lloyd returns from his foot injury to feature in his first squad of the year, with the 2019 One Day Player of the Year set to slot in towards the top of the order.

Maynard was delighted to have Lloyd available, citing his skill and ability to 'take the game away', and was looking forward to seeing what the all-rounder had to offer.

"He's obviously a highly skilled cricketer across all three formats, if he gets in we know how dangerous he can be and he can take the game away from the opposition, and he'd done that numerous times for Glamorgan.

"It's great to have Lloydy back in the side, he was named captain of the 50-over time, that's how much we think of him and his leadership qualities, so he'll also be able to help Cooky out in the middle."

Maynard also hinted at further tactical suprises, and praised the efforts of Andrew Salter and Prem Sisodiya in the tournament so far.

"There may be another couple of changes that may surprise the players and fans. We need to change something up.

"I've been delighted with the spinners, it's been hugely pleasing and hopefully we can get some wins in that. You can go anywhere if you get on a roll."
