13-man squad named to face Warwickshire

Head Coach Matt Maynard has named a 13-man squad to face Warwickshire in the Bob Willis Trophy at Sophia Gardens, with 4 changes made to the squad that travelled to Northampton in the previous round.

Owen Morgan will make his first red-ball appearance of the season, with Prem Sisodiya also receiving his first call-up to a Bob Willis Trophy squad in 2020.

Morgan will slot in at 3, with Maynard confirming a tactical change that will see Tom Cullen take the gloves and Chris Cooke play as a specialist batsman and captain.

Lukas Carey is also included in the squad and will potentially make his first appearance of 2020 as fellow seamers Timm van der Gugten and Michael Hogan also retain their places in the squad. Charlie Hemphrey is also recalled to the squad.

With only one game left of the tournament and Glamorgan unable to qualify for the final, Maynard is taking the opportunity to test some new tactics against Warwickshire.

"We're having a slight tactical change, and it might seem strange to a lot of people, with Tom Cullen behind the stumps.

"The skipper has done a great job this year. It's very tough when you're batting in the top five, keeping wicket, and captaining. We want to give him a break and take a look at options for the future."

With the shortened season providing only 5 games to look at players, Maynard admits it's difficult to get a decent look at players but that there are still positives that can be taken from how the players will perform in the final game of the season.

"It's a one game opportunity that may not paint a full picture, but I'm sure Tom and Owen would rather play one game than no games.

"We've got a young opening partnership with Selman and Joe Cooke playing his second game. Owen Morgan is coming in and fighting hard, he's deserved this opportunity, so there's plenty to be really excited about."
