2014 Glamorgan Yearbook - shortly available

6 Mar 2014 | Cricket
The Glamorgan Yearbook for 2014 will be published on Wednesday, March 19th - the day when Glamorgan's cricketers will be engaged in their opening warm-up of the new season.
As always, the Glamorgan Yearbook will look back on events from the previous summer with a series of special articles celebrating the Club's success in 2013 in reaching the final of the Yorkshire Bank40 competition, as well as special features on Michael Hogan and Jim Allenby who each enjoyed standout summers.

With 2014 being the centenary of the start of the First World War, the Yearbook also remembers the summer of 1914 as well as commemorating some of the Glamorgan cricketers who lost their lives whilst fighting for King and Country during the Great War. There is also an article on the Normandy Landings, whose 70th anniversary takes place in 2014, plus a special interview with Jim Pleass, a member of Glamorgan's side that won the County Championship title in 1948, and who was amongst the thousands of brave soldiers who went across the English Channel on D-Day in June 1944.

With 2014 being the 50th anniversary of Glamorgan's first-ever victory over the Australians at Swansea, the Yearbook also contains a special feature looking back on the day in August 1964 when Glamorgan, under the captaincy of Ossie Wheatley, defeated the men in the baggy green caps.

Once again, the Yearbook also includes scorecards of every game played by Glamorgan in 2013, as well as up-to-date statistics and records, plus full information about the Glamorgan 2nd XI, the Wales Minor Counties and the South Wales Premier League in which the Welsh county's players appear in club cricket.
