While those attending the first ever concerts at The SSE SWALEC might be familiar with Kaiser Chiefs, Dizzee Rascal and Simply Red, Manchester band Everything Everything are one of the shining lights of the current UK indie and alternative music scene and should provide music-lovers with a pleasant surprise.
The band, led by frontman Jonathan Higgs, formed in Manchester in the mid-2000s and released their debut album Man Alive in 2010, which spawned the singles ‘My Kz Ur Bf’ and ‘Photoshop Handsome’. Two more albums have followed for the four-piece, who have origins in Guernsey and Northumberland, but met at Salford University.
Their second album Arc – released in 2013 – peaked at Number Five in the UK album chart and featured their highest-placed singles, in ‘Cough Cough’ and ‘Kemosabe’, both of which came close to finishing in the UK top 40.
A third album entitled Get To Heaven was brought out last year and reached Number 7 in the UK album charts.
The band have an eclectic style that can be loosely described as alternative or indie rock, but features falsetto singing and fast-paced lyrics. They have been inspired by the indie bands that came before them, such as Kaiser Chiefs, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys and should be a real treat for music fans this weekend.
