Seamer Timm Van der Gugten was the pick of the bowlers as Glamorgan put in a dominant display against Derbyshire in their first Royal London Cup fixture at the Incora County Ground.
Van der Gugten took 4/41 as the Glamorgan bowling attack decimated the Derbyshire batting line-up as they were dismissed for just 110. The Welsh county romped to an eight-wicket win as captain Kiran Carlson struck 54* to see his side get their title defence off to the perfect start.
“It has been a while since I have been able to get out there.” Said Van der Gugten.
“I have been ready for a couple of weeks. I have had quite a bit of time to build up. It has been a frustrating period but it was nice to contribute to a win. As a bowling unit we bowled unbelievably and obviously, the batters just finished it off at the end.
“It was quite a nice wicket to bowl on, to be honest. With the two new balls from both ends, the ball tends to stay newer for a bit longer so there was a little bit of assistance there early on. As a unit, we all put it there for long enough and we got the rewards.”
