Ashes Returns to Cardiff

The countdown is on to the most eagerly anticipated sporting event of 2015 as Glamorgan's headquarters, the SWALEC Stadium, hosts the first Test Match of the 2015 Investec Ashes Series (July 8-12th).
The fixture's return to Wales for the opening match evokes memories of the 2009 Test, when England's last pair, James Anderson and Monty Panesar, clung on to earn a famous draw on the final day of a gripping Ashes encounter.

The eyes of the sporting world will be set on the Welsh capital again next summer, as the match will be held in Cardiff on the exact same dates as they were in 2009. Indeed this time next year Alastair Cook's men will be aiming to avenge their 5-0 defeat against Australia last winter.

Glamorgan Cricket Chief Executive Hugh Morris said, Glamorgan County Cricket Club is delighted to be hosting the opening Investec Ashes Test, which promises to be an exciting and hugely anticipated contest, as one of the world's most renowned sporting rivalries resumes in Cardiff.

As in 2009, the Investec Ashes Series will be one of the major highlights of the sporting year, with huge crowds and superb action on the field. The iconic scenes of Monty Panesar and Jimmy Anderson's last wicket stand was one of the great memories of that series and vital in the eventual outcome of the 2009 Ashes.

As we begin the one year countdown to the Ashes returning to the SWALEC Stadium, supporters can start gearing up to purchase their tickets which will go on general public sale at the beginning of September this year. Although, for those cricket supporters who paid to watch England internationals in Wales last summer, or are members of Glamorgan CCC, there will be a priority window for them to purchase tickets in advance of the public release.

Tickets for the Ashes Test will be on general sale from midday on Wednesday 10th September, 2014 from Glamorgan Cricket ticket office.
