Former Glamorgan coach Matthew Mott is relishing a return to his old stamping ground when his new side, Australia women, complete their Ashes tour with the final women's iT20 at The SSE SWALEC on Bank Holiday Monday.
Mott, the former Queensland opening batsman, went on to lead Glamorgan to their first Lord's final in 13 years when they played Notts Outlaws at the home of cricket in 2013, before departing the Welsh club to be replaced by Toby Radford.
I'm very much looking forward to coming back to Cardiff. I nipped back here when we had a break in the schedule and saw the boys beat Kent on the last ball of a one-dayer, so that was a thrill. I keep in touch with all of the people around the club so it will be good to catch up with them. Especially being the last game it will all be pretty special.
Mott arrives at The SSE SWALEC as an Ashes winner, after leading the Southern Stars to an unassailable 10-4 points lead in the women's Ashes secured with victory in last night's low scoring affair at Hove.
He also admitted he had fond memories of his time with Glamorgan. Absolutely, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We made some friends for life here.
We had a young son while we here and he went to a Welsh school and learnt a little bit of Welsh. My wife was actually quite disappointed that she couldn't come over for these last couple of weeks but the young fella is in school unfortunately.
England women's IT20 clash with Australia precedes the men's encounter on Monday, starting at 10.30am.
