Head Coach Trevor Bayliss was optimistic about England's future despite the disappointment of seeing West Indies pip his side to the ICC World Twenty20.
Carlos Brathwaite thrashed four sixes in a row to grab a dramatic victory in the final over, after England had posted 155 for nine.
Joe Root had underpinned England's total with 54, and then took two quick wickets to derail the Windies' chase.
However, Marlon Samuels steadied the ship with an unbeaten 85 before Brathwaite dramatically grabbed the 19 required from Ben Stokes' final over.
Bayliss said: I thought we were probably a few runs short, but it's a final and if you get the runs on the board, anything can happen.
We've seen the West Indies sort of struggle chasing some small totals in the past. We thought if we could get
some early wickets we could put some pressure on and you never know what can happen.
We got off to a great start and then obviously an experienced player in Marlon Samuels batted well and got them over the line.
We gave ourselves one hell of a chance to win. I think it's a great sign moving forward.
