Kent’s top-scorer yesterday, Daniel Bell-Drummond, was delighted to have made his mark during his first opening stand with New Zealand Test opener Tom Latham.
With 84 to his name in a stand of 131 – Kent’s best since July 2012 – Bell-Drummond was full of praise for his opening partner.
He said: “Tom’s obviously a class player and it was an honour to open the batting with him. He has a brilliant record, so I’m hoping to learn a lot from him and enjoy a few more partnerships during his time here.
“We shared information out there and he helped keep me focussed. He clearly knows when to sit in, and when to cash in, and I felt we complimented each other really well in that way."
Latham made 53, while Joe Denly, Darren Stevens and Mitchell Claydon all passed the half-century made as the hosts established a sizeable first innings lead.
Bell-Drummon added: “We’ve got a brilliant lead now and we’re in the driving seat. Now we must come back tomorrow, really hit the mark and drive home our advantage.”
Glamorgan batsman Will Bragg and James Kettleborough resume the visitors' second innings this morning at 11am. Glamorgan trail by 212 runs.
