To mark Black History Month, Glamorgan’s Mark Alleyne MBE has been talking about his inspirational journey in cricket from playing for England to being England and Wales’ first Black Coach, the importance of role models and his hopes for the next generation of Black cricketers. The ECB sat down with Mark as part of its celebration of #BlackCricketHeroes. A trailblazer and an inspiration to people all around the world, the film features a conversation between Mark and David ‘Syd’ Lawrence, Gloucestershire CCC’s President and former England player.
The ECB are asking people to think about their own #BlackCricketHeroes and to give them a shoutout on social media using #RaisingTheGame. Your nomination can be a player (past or present), a coach, a PE teacher or someone from cricket administration - anyone who has been an inspirational figure in cricket.
You can share your nomination or create a short video on your phone and send it to the ECB social media channels then they will be composing a montage of all the video nominations to release at the end of the month.
