Essex\'s Ravi Bopara credited Glamorgan\'s bowling performance after the Welsh county fought back on Day Two of this Specsavers County Championship.
Bopara, who made 80 along with teammate Tom Westley to guide Essex to 300/9 after an attritional second day, said Essex struggled to get away from the Glamorgan bowlers.
He said: "It was a slightly strange pitch, I don't think many of the boys have played on pitches like that. It was difficult to score fluently because they bowled quite straight.
Bopara praised Glamorgan for battling back after Essex had cruised to 233/4.
He added: "I know we've got a bit of a lead but you've got to give them credit, they bowled nicely and kept us quiet for long periods.
"When you're going at two and a half runs an over, you can never really get away from the opposition."
Essex's Ryan ten Doeschate and Jamie Porter will resume this morning at The SSE SWALEC.
