Club Watch - Wales Premier Club Cricket Weekend 10

8 Jul 2025 | Cricket

It was a wet weekend of club cricket in Wales, and with the Men's North Wales Premier League and Women's South Wales Premier League on a break, all eyes were on the Men's South Wales Premier League.

Constant rain across the country on Saturday saw only three premier division matches take place in the Men's South Wales league, which saw some low scores and a big win for Pontarddulais CC over Swansea CC, thanks to a spell of 7-19 by Richard Grant.

Abergavenny CC took on Usk CC in the South-East local derby, and the game did not disappoint. The low-scoring thriller saw Usk CC bowled out for 75, courtesy Glamorgan's Ben Morris who picked up a five-wicket-haul, and Glamorgan 2nd XI's Tom Norton who recorded a miserly spell of 3-11. In reply, Billy Root caused all sorts of trouble with the new ball as Abergavenny managed to chase the small target by only one wicket.

Tom Bevan starred with the bat and ball for Ammanford CC, picking up a 4-fer against Ynystawe CC before leading scoring 90 with the bat in a comfortable 6-wicket win for Ammanford CC. Pontarddulais CC recorded the biggest win of the weekend, by 136 runs, against Swansea CC who were bowled out 96 in their pursuit of chasing 232, as Pontarddulais's Richard Grant picked up seven wicket for only 19 runs.

The matches between St. Fagans CC and Bridgend Town CC, as well as the one between Cardiff CC and Newport CC, were called off without a ball being bowled due to the wet weather in the capital. Brief scores below:
