It was much sunnier Saturday than the weeks before, and Premier League club cricket was in full flow across the country on the seventh Saturday of the 2025 season.
Seven Glamorgan staff players played for their allocated clubs in the South Wales Premier League. Eddie Byrom and Zain ul Hassan particularly had notable performances for Abergavenny CC and Newport CC, respectively. Byrom scored his first century in the league against Cardiff CC, as Abergavenny CC went on to win the match by 13 runs thanks to the left-hander's 117 with the bat.
Zain ul Hassan contributed with both bat and ball, scoring a 72-ball 83 and picking up three wickets with the ball. His all-round performance got Newport CC a massive 158-run win against Swansea CC via the DLS method. Former Glamorgan 2nd XI player Tomos Jones's 4-fer got Bridgend Town CC a 8-wicket victory against Ammanford CC, while left-arm spinner Rhodri Lewis's 4-fer and former Glamorgan player Owen Morgan's 55* saw St. Fagans CC beat Ynystawe CC to finish the weekend at the top of the table. Rhodri Lewis is called up by Mark O'Leary to Glamorgan's 2nd XI squad for the 4-day Championship Challenge against Middlesex this week.
