Wicketkeeper Chris Cooke will lead Glamorgan’s Specsavers County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup campaigns for the 2019 season.
Cooke takes over the red-ball leadership from Michael Hogan and the 50-over captaincy from Colin Ingram who will be absent from the competition at the IPL. Ingram will continue to lead the side in the Vitality Blast.
Cooke made his debut for Glamorgan in 2011 and has played over 200 games for the club across all three formats. He has scored over 3,000 First-Class runs for Glamorgan with four centuries, including a career best 171* against Kent in 2014.
The 32-year-old has also played a major part in Glamorgan’s white-ball campaigns and famously struck a match-winning 60 not out from just 29 balls against Essex Eagles at Chelmsford in the Vitality Blast last year.
He was appointed as vice-captain last season and captained the side on a number of occasions, including the win over Surrey at the Kia Oval in the Vitality Blast.

“I really enjoyed the experience of being vice-captain last year, so I’m excited to take on the role on a more permanent basis.
“We didn’t reach our potential last season and there is a lot we can improve on, but the boys are a very talented bunch and hopefully we can show that this year by challenging across the competitions and make Wales Proud.”
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “Chris performed well in his role as vice-captain last season showing good leadership qualities.
“He is a highly respected member of the squad and this is a perfect time for Chris to take on this extra responsibility as we look to improve on and off the field this season.
“Michael Hogan did a fine job last season in tough circumstances and remains a key part of our leadership group.
"This change will hopefully help us to manage his workload through the season more effectively and ensure that we continue to get the best out of him in the coming years.”
