Glamorgan batsman Chris Cooke has been rewarded for his loyalty and contribution to the club with an official county cap.
Cooke, 29, first played for Glamorgan’s 2nd XI in 2010 after impressing in English league cricket and has since amassed 2,378 first-class runs – including three centuries in four-day cricket.
His highest score came in 2013 against Kent in Canterbury when he smashed 171 in the County Championship, and the South African-born batsman has also made a significant impact in the shorter formats, with a strike rate of 142 in Twenty20 cricket.
Cooke also deputised for wicket-keeper Mark Wallace as Glamorgan’s second choice gloveman and played 15 out of 16 Championship matches last season, with a best of 102 not out against Gloucestershire.
After being presented with the cap on the outfield during the tea interval on Day Two of Glamorgan's Specsavers County Championship match versus Leicestershire, Cooke said he was honoured to receive the award.
He said: "It's probably one of the proudest moments of my career, given the people who have done it before me. It's a huge honour and a dream come true since I signed for the club.
"I just want to continue to contribute to the side and to help Glamorgan win trophies and promotion."
Cooke said the One-Day cup run in 2013 was one of the highlights of his career to date.
He added: "I'd just like to thank all my teammates, friends, families and coaches who have helped me along the way."
