Elsewhere, Moeen Ali (74) and Joe Clarke (103*) hit classy knocks for Worcestershire in their reply to Gloucestershire's 380 on another good batting track at Bristol.

The games at Chelmsford, Grace Road and Headingley all appear to be destined for a draw with the first innings not yet completed.

Meanwhile, Durham's clash with Middlesex looks well poised – despite snow at Chester-le-Street – thanks to Mark Stoneman's unbeaten 139 led the hosts resurgence. The top seven in Middlesex's innings all scored between 25 and 74 as they posted 389.
