Although snow and sleet stunted the progress of Glamorgan\'s clash with Derbyshire, as well as some other games, there was still plenty of cricket played in the Specsavers County Championship yesterday.
DIVISION ONE
Warwickshire v Yorkshire -- Ian Bell and Varun Chopra led Warwickshire's revival on Day Three of their match against Yorkshire. Bell hit a free-scoring 59 before falling to Adil Rashid while Chopra made an unbeaten century. But with the Bears 205/2 in their first innings going into the final day, a draw now looks inevitable.
Surrey v Somerset -- Marcus Trescothick took his overnight score of 68 to 127 but could not prevent Somerset slumping to a 110-run first innings deficit going into Day Four. They were bowled all out for 353 and Surrey will now seek quick runs before trying to bowl out the visitors today.
Durham v Middlesex -- No play was possible at Chester-le-Street on Day Three after a mixture of snow, rain and sleet soaked the outfield, with Durham 295/4 in reply to Middlesex's 389 all out. It may simply be a case of racking up batting and bowling points for both sides when they emerge today.
DIVISION TWO
Leicestershire v Kent -- An unbroken partnership of 159 between Neil Dexter (57*) and Mark Cosgrove (99*) has put Leicestershire in the driving seat in their weather-affected match with Kent at Grace Road. The home side trail by just 90 runs with 8 wickets remaining but, again, a result looks unlikely after snow and sleet played their part yesterday.
Gloucestershire v Worcestershire -- This encounter is nicely poised going into Day Four after young Worcestershire batsman Joe Clarke bludgeoned 135 to propel the visitors to a first innings lead. Gloucestershire now lead Worcestershire by 186 runs with 4 wickets remaining and all three results look possible.
Essex v Northamptonshire -- Essex paceman Jamie Porter has 7 wicketrs in the match so far as Northants follow-on at Chelmsford. The home side can set up an innings victory today by taking the remaining 6 wickets before the visitors score 174 runs. South African batsman Richard Levi could hold the key for Northants; he is currently 28 not out.
