Robert Croft praised Glamorgan\'s character in thwarting Kent\'s victory charge, but was understandably disappointed after the Welsh county were beaten by 10 wickets.
Daniel Bell-Drummond and Tom Latham completed a comfortable triumph for the home side at a sun-soaked Canterbury on Day Four, despite hundreds from Graham Wagg and David Lloyd that had brought Glamorgan back into the game yesterday.
Croft admitted Glamorgan's first innings total of 260 was not enough, but praised the stubbornness of Lloyd, Wagg and others as the visitors stunted Kent's progress on Day Three.
“Looking back we got the toss wrong on the first morning. It did do a heck of a lot, which we hadn’t really expected,” said the former England spinner.
“Having spoken to Jimmy Adams, the Kent coach, they’d have batted as well."
The Glamorgan Head Coach will now seek to take the positives out of the result, which – for Croft – came in the second innings fightback.
He added: "From that moment on (the first innings) it was difficult for us to get back into the game, yet I thought the way we showed character with the bat on Day Three was outstanding.
"David Lloyd’s and Graham Wagg’s hundreds were superb, but let’s not forget the way James Kettleborough and Will Bragg played in the first session to get our momentum moving forward.
“It was disappointing overall, but we’ll assess what we’ve dome over the four days here and look forward to the next game.”
Glamorgan host Worcestershire at The SSE SWALEC on Sunday, starting at 11am.
