Welsh darts icon Jonny Clayton answered our questions ahead of tomorrow night\'s Foster\'s Pro Darts Masters at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff.
Clayton said he was excited for the event and the chance to play in front of a home Welsh crowd.
Question 1) Hi Jonny, are you looking forward to playing in front of a home Welsh crowd at the Foster¹s Pro Darts Masters in Cardiff?
With this being my first time at this event I cannot wait to play in front of my home crowd.
Question 2) Mark Webster won the inaugural Darts event at The SSE SWALEC, but with Michael van Gerwen headlining the bill, its an unenviable task to replicate Webby¹s win here last July?
With MVG being on such fine form. I think it's fair to say that it is a difficult task for any player to replicate Webby's win here last July.
Question 3) How good is Michael van Gerwen when compared with the game¹s greatest players?
For me MVG is only 27 years old and already cemented his name as one of the greatest players in darts.
Question 4) Other than Michael van Gerwen, which of the other players in the Foster¹s Pro Darts Masters will pose a threat?
With Raymond Van Barnaveld being a five times World Champion and Peter Wright ranked World Number 3, so I think both of these players pose a threat .
Question 5) There¹s also the challenge of facing some of Cardiff¹s best darts league players, how do you rate the standard of amateurs in Wales?
We all play in amateur dart leagues in Wales and I find that the level of Welsh darts is getting harder and harder. So I think that the standard of definitely on a high in Wales.
Question 6) The event is a sell-out again and the popularity of darts seems to be as strong as ever, with great local support cheering you on, do you have a final message to supporters coming to the show?
The popularity of darts is massive at the moment, and events like these are a great opportunity for people to see some of the best darts players in the world. So I would like to thank you all for your continued support. Diolch.
General admission doors open at 7pm tomorrow.
