Marchant de Lange grabbed his 4th five-wicket List A career haul and his first for Glamorgan in any format to move into the top three of the PCA MVP Rankings tonight, behind team mate Colin Ingram, who occupies top spot in the RLODC Rankings by some distance, and Durham\'s in form batsman Keaton Jennings.
Ingram's form has been truly magnificent and his knock of 115 from just 78 balls was instrumental again to Glamorgan's success against Hampshire today as it had been against Essex last week as the Welsh county managed to chase down their highest ever run chase in List A cricket to secure a third win in this year's Royal London One-Day Cup.
Ingram now sits third overall in the PCA MVP Rankings, boosted by his form in 50-over, where he has been head and shoulders above everyone in this year's competition, but disappointingly won't be able to power Glamorgan's progress into the knockout rounds.
However, de Lange has certainly found his feet and length, so now tops the list for wickets in this year's One Day Cup with 17 scalps from his 7 games and a caeer best 5-49 today at the Ageas Bowl was crucial for Glamorgan.
Not only did he claim the first three wickets - Alsop, Rossouw and Bailey - as the home side slipped to 54/3, but he then returned to remove Vince who batted at three - and posted a magnificent record breaking 178 0ff 138 - and Ervine (1) who batted at five. By then the hosts were on 300 and the visiting supporters feared the worst, until Ingram and co did the business to chase it down.
"A personal best, I'm very happy with that, but from the team point of view the chase was spectacular," said Marchant.
"Mature guys came to the party, they know their roles and it was nice to be there at the end with Chris Cooke who smacked the winning six.
"It's always good to win, it keeps morale up and I'm very glad Robert Croft didn't rest me!"
Glamorgan's final game in the group stage of this year's competition is against Kent Spitfires at St Helen's on Sunday. Tickets are avaiable on the gate priced £15 for adults whilst under 17s go free.
