Aneurin Donald is targeting a maiden County Championship hundred after his promising start to the season.
The 19-year-old, who hit a free-flowing 57 against Leicestershire, as well as a maiden first-class century against the students of Cardiff MCCU, wants to establish himself in the Glamorgan team.
He hit 45 against Derbyshire yesterday (Monday) in the Specsavers County Championship and spoke to cricket writer Peter Miller as part of the brand new Glamorgan Cricket Podcast over the weekend.
Donald travelled to Bangladesh with England for the Under 19s World Cup over the winter, as well as taking part in Glamorgan's nine-day trip to the Desert Springs Resort in Spain and said it was good to feel well-prepared ahead of the season.
He said: "I came back from the winter as a better cricketer and a more well-rounded person.
"We had a really good run-in to the season and felt well prepared and ready to go and I guess, in that sense, the first league game against Leicestershire was a bit disappointing but that wasn't down to our preparation, just that we weren't quite at the right level on a couple of days. But we won't let that hang over our heads."
Donald smashed 105 before retiring out against Cardiff MCCU at the start of the month. But the young Welshman is not resting on his laurels.
He added: "I was glad to tick off the first first-class hundred against Cardiff MCCU and now I just want to get that first County Championship hundred.
"It's nice to have a few good scores behind me, but now it's all about getting big runs when it matters and being more consistent."
