Colin Ingram crowned a memorable NatWest T20 campaign by winning two honours at the NatWest Professional Cricketers’ Awards at tonight’s glittering presentation ceremony in London.
While Colin Ingram’s troublesome knee injury prevented him from making any appearances in the County Championship, his form in white ball cricket this season was nothing short of remarkable. His most memorable displays came away from home, with a T20 century at Chelmsford and an astonishing 95 not out to secure victory at Canterbury.
The 31-year-old South African, whose exploits with both bat and ball were critical to Glamorgan's progress to the quarter-final. Ingram took nine wickets to go with his 502 runs in the shortest formats, which included four half-centuries and that blistering 101 at Chelmsford to conclude the T20 group stages.
Last night he deservedly scooped the NatWest T20 Blast Player of the Year and the Sky Sports Sixes award for hitting the most maximums in the T20 Blast with the South African smashing the first ball of the season for six and ending with 29 in total, one short of taking Chris Gayle's record for the competiiton.
Also last night Northants opener and new England recruit Ben Duckett became the first player to win both the NatWest PCA Players’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in the same season, whilst Mark Wallace gave his final PCA speech as Chairman, before stepping down.
