England have named a 14-man squad for the third Ashes Test starting on Thursday at Trent Bridge.
Pace bowlers Liam Plunkett and Mark Footitt have been called into the squad after Jimmy Anderson suffered side strain during the Edgbaston Test.
Footitt is in the squad for the first time, having been used as a net bowler before the Ashes series and also attending the squad training camp in Spain. Plunkett last played a Test over a year ago, and has played 13 Tests in total. The rest of the squad is unchanged from Edgbaston.
National selector, James Whitaker said With James Anderson missing this Test through injury and some concerns over Mark Wood's workload in the build up to the last Test we felt that bringing in two extra bowlers in Liam Plunkett and Mark Footitt was necessary. The reports on Wood are positive at this stage and we are hopeful he'll be available for selection on Thursday.
