England thrash Ireland in Bristol

Adil Rashid took his first five-wicket haul in ODIs as England skittled Ireland for 126 to win by seven wickets in Bristol.

England’s summer got off to a flying start after they thrashed Ireland by seven wickets in the first part of their two-match in the Royal London One-Day Series in Bristol.

Adil Rashid bamboozled Ireland’s batsmen, taking 5-27 in eight overs, as the visitors slumped from 40/0 to 126 all out.

In reply, Alex Hales struck a brisk 55 and Joe Root an unbeaten 49 as England raced to their victory target in just 20 overs.

England are scheduled to play in Cardiff at least twice next month first for the clash with New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy before returning if not for a Semi-final in the Welsh capital then against South Africa in the third match of the NatWest International T20 Series at The SSE SWALEC.
