Farewell Victory for Hogan in Sheffield Shield

17 Mar 2016 | Cricket
Michael Hogan has finished his Western Warriors career by taking eight wickets to defeat Queensland in convincing style at the Gabba.
Hogan followed up his first innings figures of 4-29 by claiming 4-58 at the second innings as Queensland were put to the sword by WA, with victory secured by an innings and six runs.

Hogan's second innings wickets from 18 overs did damage to the Queensland rearguard effort, who faced a 233 run first innings deficit, but he received able support with the ball from the rest of the WA attack with Nathan Rimmington (3-53), Josh Nicholas (2-17) and debutant Jhye Richardson (1-68) all adding to the home team's woe.

WA finished the season in fifth on 44 points with four wins, three draws and three losses, whilst 34-year-old Hogan moved to 221 career Sheffield Shield wickets for WA, eighth on the all-time list ahead of Tom Moody (220).

Hogan extended his Glamorgan contract to keep him with the Welsh county until the end of the 2018 season last year and is expected back in Wales before the end of the month as county cricket season draws near.
