Glamorgan County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that former New Zealand Wicketkeeper-Batter, Rachel Priest, will be joining the Club as the first Glamorgan Women’s Head Coach.

A former New Zealand international, Rachel brings a wealth of experience to her new role. As a wicketkeeper-batter, she represented the White Ferns in 87 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 75 T20 Internationals (T20Is) between 2007 and 2020. Known for her aggressive batting at the top of the order, Priest scored over 2,600 international runs, including two ODI centuries.

Beyond the international stage, Priest had a successful career in some of the world's top leagues, including the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia, the Kia Super League in England, and the Women's Cricket Super League.

She was also a key player for Wellington Blaze, helping the team secure multiple domestic titles in New Zealand. Prior to her time with Wellington, Priest played for Central Districts, where she made her mark as a talented young wicketkeeper-batter and developed into a leading figure in New Zealand's domestic game.

Priest is no stranger to Welsh cricket, having played and coached in the region previously. Now, she returns in a leadership role, aiming to develop talent, build a strong squad, and inspire the next generation of female cricketers.

Commenting on her appointment, Priest said: “I'm really excited to take on this position and be part of Glamorgan’s journey in women’s cricket."

“I want to help build a strong and professional environment where players can develop, enjoy their cricket, and take the women's game in Wales to the next level."

Mark Wallace, Glamorgan Director of Cricket added: “We’re delighted to have someone of Rachel’s standing in the game joining Glamorgan as our first Women’s Head Coach."

“This is an exciting time for Women and Girls cricket in Wales and we’re looking forward to Rachel being a big part of that moving forward.”
