Glam 2nd XI v Glos 2nd XI

10 May 2021 | Cricket

The weather was the only winner when Glamorgan 2nd XI staged their first home fixture of the 2021 season, behind closed doors, against Gloucestershire 2nd XI in the Second Eleven Championship at Spytty Park, Newport.

The Welsh county’s second string went into the game with an unbeaten record in the four-day competition having defeated Somerset at Taunton Vale CC and Lancashire at Northern CC, whilst their contest last week against Worcestershire at Barnt Green CC was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Rain prevented a start on Monday until 1330pm with Gloucestershire winning the toss and inviting Glamorgan to bat first. Only 47 overs play were possible with Glamorgan reaching 118-1 when rain ended play for the day shortly after 1730pm. Steve Reingold and Nick Selman added 63 for the first wicket, with Reingold unbeaten on 68 when the weather intervened. Further rain on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday prevented any further play from taking place.
