Glam 2nd XI v Glos 2nd XI: T20 friendlies

17 May 2021 | Cricket

Following the washouts in their last two matches in the Second Eleven Championship, a pair of T20 friendlies were arranged today (May 17th), behind closed doors, at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff between Glamorgan 2nd XI and Gloucestershire 2nd XI.

The first contest began at 1100 with Glamorgan 2nd XI winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Miles Hammond gave the visitors a decent start as he blasted a 22-ball fifty as, together with Chris Dent, the six-over powerplay yielded 64 runs. The introduction of Callum Taylor's off-spin ended Hammond's run spree as he was caught behind by wicket-keeper Tom Cullen attempting a cut.

Taylor also removed Ian Cockbain who was caught at backward point by Steve Reingold, before James Weighell had Dent caught at long-off by Nick Selman. Taylor then grabbed a third wicket as Jack Taylor was well caught by a diving Roman Walker but with his departure the heavens opened with Gloucestershire on 109-4 in the 12th over. A thunderstorm then broke over the Sophia Gardens ground washing out the remainder of the contest, as well as the abandonment of the second scheduled game.
