Glamorgan Head Coach Robert Croft has named a 16-man squad for the home match at The SSE SWALEC against Sussex Sharks in the Royal London One-Day Cup, starting tomorrow at 2pm.
The Welsh county are looking to make it four wins out of five in white ball cricket, following the 52-run win over Gloucestershire Monday.
The squad includes Ruaidhri Smith, who is available again following university exams and may make his first senior competitive appearance of 2016. Will Bragg retains his place after smashing 75 against Gloucestershire as part of a 122-run second wicket stand with his captain Rudolph.
Dale Steyn is not registered to play 50-over cricket for Glamorgan, but he is expected to feature in Friday’s NatWest T20 Blast match in Bristol. Timm van der Gugten, Michael Hogan, Craig Meschede, Dewi Penrhyn Jones and Graham Wagg make up the rest of the pace attack.
Captain Jacques Rudolph praised the ‘momentum’ Glamorgan have gathered with their recent impressive form and is keen for that to continue against the Sharks.
He said: ”I always speak about momentum and as a unit in all three formats we’ve been pretty good recently.
"Sussex are a strong team and they’re always tough competitors, but fortunately there’s quite a few guys in our team who are full of confidence right now and ready to take them on."
"We’ve got some good momentum in white ball cricket at the moment, so if that can continue for the rest of the week, I’ll be a very happy captain.”
Sussex, led by captain Luke Wright, are expected to name a similar squad to the one chosen for their defeat to Essex Eagles last night.
The game saw the Eagles triumph by five wickets despite half-centuries for Wright, Ed Joyce and overseas player Ross Taylor. Leg-spinner Will Beer took 2/51 but Essex cruised to victory.
Glamorgan (16-man) squad to face Sussex Sharks: Jacques Rudolph (capt), Will Bragg, Chris Cooke, Dean Cosker, Aneurin Donald, Timm van der Gugten, Michael Hogan, Colin Ingram, Dewi Penrhyn Jones, David Lloyd, Craig Meschede, Andrew Salter, Nick Selman, Ruaidhri Smith, Graham Wagg, Mark Wallace.
Adult tickets for the match are £15 on the gate, with juniors FREE. Gates open 1pm, with play scheduled to start at 2pm
