Glamorgan will be playing four pre-season fixtures during March as the 2014 squad prepare for the forthcoming season.
The Welsh county will visit Bristol for a one-day contest against Gloucestershire on Wednesday, March 19th, before returning to the SWALEC Stadium to host the West Country side in a two-day contest at their Cardiff headquarters on March 20th and 21st.
Glamorgan will then meet Cardiff MCCU at the SWALEC Stadium on Monday, March 24th before travelling to Worcestershire to play a one-day match at New Road on Monday, March 31st. The first-class season then commences on Tuesday April 1st with a three-day friendly against Cardiff MCCU at the SWALEC Stadium.
Our pre-season activities and preparations for 2014 are now in full swing, said Glamorgan's Head Coach, Toby Radford. Besides these warm-up games during March, our players will be practising outdoors on grass at Cardiff once again under a special marquee which has been erected over the net area.
I've heard some great feedback about the use of the marquee last March from both the batsmen and the bowlers, and I'm delighted that the marquee has already been put up, allowing us to practice in the grass nets during February, as well as once again in March.
All in all, the use of the grass nets, plus these warm-up matches, will give our playing squad some excellent practice ahead of the first-class fixture against Cardiff MCCU and the opening LV=County Championship match against Surrey at The Oval which starts on Sunday April 6th.
