Glamorgan confirm pre-season schedule

Glamorgan Cricket has confirmed their pre-season schedule for this season with a fixture against Cardiff UCCE and a trip to Taunton.

The Welsh county will begin their preparation with a three-day friendly against Cardiff UCCE from Monday, 29th March.

Captain Chris Cooke and his men will then travel to Taunton to play a three-day game against last season’s Bob Willis Trophy runners-up Somerset, starting on Friday, 2nd April.

Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “The squad have been working hard over the winter and are itching to get on the park and put their training into practice.

“We’ve had to cancel our tour to La Manga and so we start our pre-season schedule against Cardiff UCCE at Sophia Gardens, followed by a three-day game against Somerset. They’ve shown over the last few years they are a very good red-ball team and it will be a real challenge to go up against them, but it’s one we’re excited for.

“We’re also looking to play an intra-squad match before the season starts. We’ve had some really competitive internal fixtures over the last couple of seasons and it will give the players an opportunity to compete against themselves for a starting spot in the County Championship side.”

Pre-season fixtures:

March 29-31 - Glamorgan v Cardiff UCCE (3-days) @ Sophia Gardens
April 2-4 - Glamorgan v Somerset (3-days) @ Cooper Associates County Ground
TBC – Intra-squad match @ Sophia Gardens

More details around the live stream provision for these fixtures will be confirmed in due course.
