21 Nov 2024 | Cricket

The 2025 Vitality Blast fixtures have been released and next season marks the first time that a Glamorgan Women’s team will play side by side the Glamorgan Men’s team in Vitality Blast.

Next season will see the Vitality Blast Men’s competition enter its 22nd year, but 2025 will be bigger and better than ever before with two Vitality Blast Women’s competitions – one contested by the eight counties from Tier One (Vitality Blast Women’s competition), and the second featuring the 10 counties in Tier Two (Vitality Blast Women’s League Two).  Glamorgan Women will be playing in the Vitality Blast Women’s League Two in 2025 and 2026, moving to Tier 1 cricket in 2027.

Glamorgan won the Best Domestic Spectator Experience Award 2024 as voted for by the fans, and Sophia Gardens will be extending its famous warm welcome to supporters for a series of exciting Vitality Blast matches as the original domestic T20 cricket competition returns with fast-paced and explosive action perfect for a get together with friends or family.

The fixtures will include two double headers on Sunday 13 July and Friday 18 July where the Glamorgan Women’s and Men’s teams will play on the same day at Sophia Gardens.

Glamorgan’s campaign will blast off on Sunday 1 June facing Middlesex at Merchant Taylors' School.

Then Rivals Week will see Glamorgan play Gloucestershire away on Sunday 15 June and Somerset at home on Friday 20 June.

Mark Wallace, Glamorgan Director of Cricket said: “Vitality Blast is always a competition you look for when the fixtures come out and after some exciting games at Sophia Gardens last year we’re looking forward to getting out there and playing well in the competition this season.”

Aimee Rees, Glamorgan Head of Women and Girls Cricket added: "We are really looking forward to the new era of Glamorgan Women, it’s an exciting time for women’s cricket in Wales. We are delighted to be playing a number of double-header fixtures alongside the men’s teams. We have seen the success of double-headers in The Hundred, and it will give the opportunity for Glamorgan fans to come and support the women’s team, and will hopefully attract a new generation of fans to come and support Glamorgan."

Glamorgan’s Men’s team will be in the South Group facing Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire Hawks, Kent Spitfires, Middlesex, Somerset, Sussex Sharks and Surrey in the group stages. Each county plays 14 group-stage matches against the counties in their respective groups with the top four teams in each group progressing to the quarter-finals. The quarter-final winners will progress to Finals Day.

Glamorgan Women’s team will be playing in the Vitality Blast Women’s League 2 South Group against Gloucestershire, Kent, Middlesex and Sussex Sharks. Each county plays eight group-stage matches (home-and-away against the other four counties in their group). The top two from each group progress to Finals Day.
