This season, Glamorgan’s white-ball kit will bear the name of every affiliated cricket club in Wales.
Developed by kit suppliers, Gray-Nicolls, in conjunction with Glamorgan Cricket, 194 Welsh clubs have had their name inscribed across the shirt, which will be worn during the Welsh county’s Vitality Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup campaigns.
The new design sees the Glamorgan logo adorning the body and the Welsh flag on the collar, but also the names of all the Welsh clubs ingrained in the shirt, as Glamorgan hope to inspire supporters and grow the game of cricket in Wales.
Chief Executive, Hugh Morris, said, “We took great pride in designing a kit which links Glamorgan to all the cricket clubs in Wales.
“Many of our players, both past and present developed through their systems and we are delighted to recognise that.
“We are very passionate about supporting grassroots cricket in Wales and by naming each cricket club in Wales individually it instils within the team the importance of performing well for every cricket player, club and supporter in the country.”
“Moving forward, we hope to engage with the Welsh cricket community more and this clearly demonstrates our commitment to the game across the country.”
Luke Gray, Sales & Marketing Director at Gray-Nicolls, said, “Gray-Nicolls are proud of our long standard relationship with Glamorgan and this year’s design is a real nod towards the history and heritage of cricket in Wales.
“We can’t wait to see the shirts in action in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup and Vitality Blast.”
As well as the Gray-Nicolls logo, the logos from fellow official kit sponsors MiPost, Discover Leeks, SA Group and Aston Martin also adorn the top.
Aston Martin’s famous wings will sit on the collar opposite the Welsh dragon, while SA Group’s logo will appear on the back of the shirt above the player’s name; Discover Leeks’ on the arm and MiPost on the front.
Glamorgan, along with Gray-Nicolls are running a competition to allow three Welsh clubs the chance to win a Glamorgan signed shirt for their club house.
Winners of the competition will be invited down Sophia Gardens or to one of Glamorgan’s matches at Colwyn Bay or Swansea where they will be presented with the signed shirt by one of Glamorgan’s players.
