Head Coach Robert Croft has confirmed the 14-man squad for Friday night’s game against Middlesex will be unchanged after recording a thrilling one-run win against Somerset last Sunday as Glamorgan secured their place in the knockout stages of the NatWest T20 Blast.
The Welsh County have won six games in a row versus Middlesex and a first home win of this year’s campaign will guarantee a home quarter-final for the second consecutive season.
Batsman Nick Selman struck a maiden NatWest T20 Blast half-century against Somerset and was delighted to play a starring role.
“It was fun and felt good to hit the ball over the top,” said Selman.
“It’s different to red ball cricket but it was great to spend a bit of time in the middle and get a good score and help towards setting a good target.
“It was a great team performance and de Lange bowled really well at the end to get us over the line and the boys were really happy to get an important win.”
After struggling during Glamorgan’s previous match against Hampshire in front of the Sky TV cameras, Selman explained the different conditions which he confronted in the last two games.
“Against Hampshire it was a little bit tricky; the wicket was a bit two paced and they had some quality spinners playing,” added Selman.
“I think losing a couple of quick wickets wasn’t ideal and Rudolph and I had to try and rebuild. On Sunday I was facing the quickies on a good surface to bat on so fingers crossed we get the same Friday.”
The young opener has yet to play a home NatWest T20 Blast match but is keen for his team to put on a big show for supporters in order to clinch a home quarter-final spot.
“It’s a big game for us and if we win we get a home quarter-final so the boys are eager to put a good performance in for what hopefully is a big crowd on Friday night.”
