On Saturday, September 10th the Glamorgan Masters will be in action for the second time since their inception last year as they meet Newport CC at Spytty Park in a 30 overs per side contest starting at 12.30pm.
Last year’s game saw the Glamorgan Masters meet Bridgend Town CC, and this summer’s contest, against the winners of the South Wales Premier League aims to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust besides celebrating Newport’s 25th season at Spytty Park since their move away from Rodney Parade.
A host of former Glamorgan players have already confirmed that they will be playing in the game, including Matthew Maynard, Mike Powell, Adrian Shaw, Darren Thomas, Dean Cosker, Mark Frost, Dan Cherry, Adam Harrison, Alun Evans, Ian Thomas, Andrew Davies, Ryan Watkins, Huw Waters and Alex Jones
“The aim of the annual Masters fixture is to bring former players together once again,” said Ian Thomas who is now one of the PCA’s National Personal Development Managers. “The game will also allow us to have some fun and enjoyment with local club cricketers, besides raising funds for various charities and good causes. We look forward to playing in front again of Glamorgan supporters, as well as arranging further fixtures in different parts of Wales over the coming years.”
