Head Coach Robert Croft has named and unchanged 14-man squad for tomorrow’s Royal London One-Day Cup fixture against Somerset at The SSE SWALEC Stadium.
After opening their campaign with a win against Gloucestershire in Bristol, Glamorgan have slipped to defeat to Surrey and Sussex Sharks in their last two outings.
Somerset on the other hand have started the competition in fine form with three wins in as many games and currently lead the South Group.
Fast bowler Timm van der Gugten is challenging for a place in the team after being selected in Glamorgan’s last two squads. He is still yet to feature this year since returning from a shoulder injury he picked up while on international duty with the Netherlands in February.
The Welsh County will be hoping their Captain Jacques Rudolph continues his stunning form in the competition which has seen him register one hundred and two centuries in Glamorgan’s three matches so far, including a match-winning 121 against local rivals Gloucestershire.
Wicket-keeper Chris Cooke is also starting to find form with the bat, striking a belligerent 62 from 47 balls against Sussex on Tuesday.
Glamorgan played three spinners in their team against Sussex including off-spinner Andrew Salter and slow left-arm bowler Owen Morgan, who played his first List A game in this year’s competition on Tuesday.
“It was nice to make my first appearance of the year, albeit in a losing cause,“ said Owen Morgan, “hopefully tomorrow we can get a win and get on a bit of a run in the competition with the next game against Essex only two days later.
Glamorgan have a strong record against Somerset in Cardiff and have not lost to their local rivals in List A cricket since 2010.
“We’re very much focusing on the next game rather than the past,” added Andrew Salter, “We love playing Somerset, especially at home, but they get behind the team and the guys love it, so hopefully we get the same thing tomorrow and pick up the win.”
Lewis Gregory is out of Somerset’s team having sustained a back problem in the second Specsavers County Championship game of the season against Lancashire.
