Glamorgan will travel to Spain next week as they ramp up their pre-season preparation before the start of the 2019 season.
The squad head to La Manga in Murcia, Spain on Tuesday, 19th March for a warm-weather training camp and a series of 50-over matches against local rivals Gloucestershire with the fixtures to be played on March 21st, 24th and 25th.
Glamorgan will then return to Wales where they will play an intra-squad friendly game and then face Cardiff MCCU in a three-day friendly, starting on Friday, 5th April in their final pre-season fixture. The Welsh county then kick-off their Specsavers County Championship campaign against Northamptonshire on Thursday, 11th April.
Admission to the Cardiff MCCU fixture will be free of charge.
Pre-season fixtures:
March 21 - Glamorgan v Gloucestershire (1-day) La Manga
March 24 - Glamorgan v Gloucestershire (1-day) La Manga
March 25 - Glamorgan v Gloucestershire (1-day) La Manga
March 28-30 – Intra-squad match (3-day) Sophia Gardens
April 5-7 - Glamorgan v Cardiff MCCU (3-day) Sophia Gardens
Head coach, Matt Maynard, said: “Heading out to La Manga will be a valuable experience for the boys. The high level of facilities and better weather will benefit the squad and let us train outdoors. It also gives us the chance to play three white-ball games against a good Gloucestershire side and get match ready.
“The intra-squad match will give the squad the opportunity to compete against themselves for places in the side and get some full match practice in ahead of the game against the MCCU who will provide a good test before the start of the season.”
