Head Coach Robert Croft has named an unchanged 12-man squad for tomorrow’s Specsavers County Championship match with Northants at The SSE SWALEC.
It will be the first red-ball action in Cardiff since June when Glamorgan faced Derbyshire under the floodlights for the inaugural round of day/night Specsavers County Championship matches.
The Welsh county will be looking to avenge their opening game of the season loss to Northants, and young all-rounder Kiran Carlson feels the side can build on their recent performances in the County Championship when they take on the midlands side.
“They’ve had the better of us in the past couple of games but I think from what we’ve been showing the results aren’t far away,” said Carlson.
“Even in Derby we bowled quite well. Chances went down, but we weren’t far away from bowling them out for 150-160 runs and then in Colwyn Bay with a young side we pushed a really strong Sussex side very close. If we can fuse those performances together I think we can come up with a win against Northants.”
Carlson first hit the headlines last year when he took five wickets on debut against Northants and then struck a hundred against Essex to became Glamorgan’s youngest ever century maker at 18 years of age. After making five appearances in the Championship side so far this year, he is happy with his progress under the guidance of the senior players.
“It’s been a little bit up and down this season, but I feel like I’m learning pretty much every week playing and being around guys like Colin Ingram and Jacques Rudolph and the bowlers like Michael Hogan and Marchant de Lange.
“I’m learning every day and the more time I spend around the squad, the more I learn and the better cricketer I will become.”
